Entryway- BEFORE

This picture is from the MLS listing.  The decor is the previous owners.

Now you can see why that other chandelier would look absolutely perfect here.

This is the day of our closing, walking in the front door for the first time!

This is from closing day too.  As you can see, we started working right away.  This area will be painted BM Natural Element.

This picture is from Closing Day.  We have since ripped out the carpet.

This is the view from half way up the stairs.  The skylight lets in so much light.

Notice the copper tube.  We just can't figure out why she put that there.  It's held up by copper hooks.

You can see the copper tubing & the hooks better in this picture.  Hmmm...

I like how the railing is open & you can see right down to the foyer from the top of the stairs.

This will all be painted BM Natural Elements too.

This is a view of the plant shelf from the 2nd floor.

Master Bedroom- BEFORE

This is the master bedroom from the MLS listing.  That border up there is actually like a black, fishnet ribbon.

I can't wait to see our new bedroom set in here & the new carpet.

This is Matt's closet.  If you notice, the fishnet ribbon is already down.  That's the first thing Matt did when he walked in.

Another angle of the Master from Closing Day.  The area to the left, is my dressing area.

That's the fishnet ribbon on the floor & some very sunny windows.

This is the dressing area.  My closet is on the left & the vanity is on the right.  I probably should have opened the blind when I took the picture... sorry.

The is a view from the dressing area into the bathroom.

Kitchen- BEFORE

We'll be painting, doing something to the floor, taking down the wallpaper & changing out the hardware ASAP.  Maybe some new appliances too.

The kitchen will be painted SW Pale Smoke.

This is a view from the kitchen into the living room.  Lucky for us, the seller left her beautiful decorations.

Sorry, I forgot to turn the lights on.  I'll take a better picture & replace this one.

Foyer Inspiration

This chandelier is really nice. Might look nice in the foyer.

I really like this light.  I don't think it would be right for the foyer, but I needed to share it.  They're designed by Amanda Nisbet.

I really like this light too.  It's different & interesting.  I wonder though, how it would be looking up at it from below?

This chandelier is gorgeous!  I think it would be too fancy for our foyer though ):

I think I'm going to attempt to make a sunburst mirror like this.  I think it would look great in the foyer.

Speaking of mirrors... check out this one.  Ooohhhh!  Unfortunately, it's $695.00!!!  Too bad, so sad.

Dining Room- BEFORE

This picture is from the MLS listing.  This is the previous owner's decor.  Again, Not My Style.

This is what it looked like on closing day.

Here's a close up of how the seller left the chandelier.

Living Room BEFORE

This is a picture from closing day.  That's a gas log fireplace on a remote (that we have yet to figure out if it's working properly).

Here's a picture of the living room taken from the MLS listing.  *Note: This is the seller's decor.  Not my Style.  I think I might put the couch like this though.

Thanks to my uncle, we figured out that the fireplace does work!  Yippie!  He manually turned it on, but it works!  Now, we just have to get the remote to work.

Office Inspiration

I love these wall decals.  Something like this would look great in our office.

This is fun too.  Both of these were found on Etsy.
I bought curtains similiar to those below.  I got mine from Target.  These are from Ikea.  It's made out of a light mesh fabric, almost like a mosquito net.
Above: I really like the base of this lamp (painted white & with a different lamp shade) & the chaise.  The lamp would look really nice in the office with a different color shade.  The chaise would be great for reading a book.

Below: I sort of like the butterflies in the top, right picture below.  I'll have to figure out how to make these.  One more thing on my DIY list.

I like the idea of a whole wall of desk space.  One area for the computer, and another open area for everything else.  I also like all the shelving.

Okay, the picture above is nice, but this is PERFECT.  I would looooveee my office to look like this!

Upstairs Bath Inspiration

It's really hard to find pictures of bathrooms for inspirations. They are all so unatainable. Where are the pictures of real bathrooms for the average Joe?

But, I do love this color. It's called Peacock Feathers by Benjamin Moore.

I love this sink.

I never thought I'd get excited about faucets, but this one is cool.  It's by Delta.

I really like this color blue with the color of these cabinets.  I think I might have to restain the bathroom vanity.

This is what I need in the bathroom.  Not a whole wall & floor of it, but definitely some.

Obviously, this isn't a bathroom, but it's the right color combination.  What a beautiful room!

I can't copy the picture over here, so this link will have to do.  I think this curtain might look good in the bathroom.  It's from Target.

I don't know if I'd have the guts to put a rock wall up in my bathroom, but I really like this.  And check out the sink too.  It's shell shaped.

This is what I mean by bathrooms that aren't real.  Look at this.  Have you ever seen a bathroom this beautiful?  I'd never leave.  I think I'd stay in that shower forever.  Sigh.

A little bit of useful information I learned today... a common bathroom lighting mistake:

Using downlights over the vanity without adding lights on the side. Standing directly under a downlight, without any light at the sides of the face, creates exaggerated and unflattering shadows. In the bathroom, using a downlight over the sink is fine to accent the expensive polished nickel faucet you've specified, but it's insufficient for tasks like shaving, tweezing, and applying makeup. For this, we need light at the sides of the mirror at eye level to minimize shadows and provide even distribution. This can be achieved with sconces flanking the mirror.

Guess we need to install some sconces.

Dining Room Inspiration

I love the brown leather chairs & the curtains here. They would look great on our slider.

What a gorgeous room... I don't think it would work in our space though.  I really like the capiz chandelier.
Look at this chandelier!  Wow!!  I love it!  I also love that mirror on the wall.  We have those seashell balls that are on the table.  They were our centerpieces at our wedding.  I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate them into our decor better.  This picture helps.

This is our new dining table.  The picture is kind of lousy.  If I can find a better one, I'll replace this.  But, in the meantime, it's a glass top table.  The center pedestal has a wine rack & a cabinet for storing different things.  Matt picked this out all by himself & I love it!

Master Bedroom Inspiration

The master bedroom is going to be a little tricky. We have this beautiful espresso bedroom set. Our summer bedding has stripes of blues, dark brown and tan. Our winter bedding is dark brown and cream.

These curtains would look gorgeous with a lighter brown wall.

**We found almost similar curtains at the Christmas Tree Shop. They're perfect & were soooo cheap! Don't you just love a bargain!

The wall color here is SW Kilim Beige.  I like the B&W pictures.  It has the brown curtains like we just bought & the lamp is nice too.

I saved this picture because I like the way they hung the pictures above the bed. We could do something like this anywhere, but then I noticed the comforter, not bad.

I like the wall color here.  I especially liked this picture because our new bedroom set is the same shade of brown & the throw pillow is very similiar to our winter bedding.  If only I could find the names of the paint color.

This is our new bed.  It's nice to see it in a room that I like (beachy blue).

I like this shade from JCP in the neutral color.  There's a couple problems though.  1) I wouldn't be able to mount the shade inside the window.  2) There's only 1 review & it's really bad. 3) It's on clearance so I might not be able to return it.

I'd like to put pictures like these over the bed.
