Checklist

We've done so much decorating and renovating since we closed on September 30th, 2010 and we still have so much more to go.  I thought if I made a check list, I could appreciate our accomplishments better.  So here goes, room by room....

Foyer
  1. Paint We painted BM Natural Element.
  2. Replace chandelier
  3. Purchase console table or bench.
  4. Purchase some wall art.
  5. New tiles They look gorgeous
  6. Replace closet door Done.  Thanks to Matt's Dad.
  7. Decor for plant shelf
1/2 Bath
  1. New toilet This was done immediately.  Old one was soooo gross.  We got handicap height.  What a difference.
  2. New vanity
  3. Paint We painted SW Green Cast.  I really like the color, although most of the time it looks light blue.
  4. Blinds This was an immediate necessity too.  The toilet sits directly across from the window.
  5. Curtains I found the curtains at the Ann & Hope Outlet in Dartmouth.  I love them.
  6. Wall art I hung pictures that used to be in my parents bedroom.  Yay for recycled art.
  7. Beachy decor The Ann & Hope Outlet also had some adorable beachy bathroom stuff.  I bought a shell shaped soap dish & a decorative towel with sand dunes on it.  They match perfectly.
  8. Get paint stain out of grout
  9. Fix corroded pipe under sink
  10. Hang towel bar Yay Matt!  Maybe he is a little handy.
Kitchen
  1. New appliances We were going to wait a little bit before replacing the appliance, but they were too gross.  The dishwasher smelled so horrible.  We bought SS & love them.
  2. New tile The new tile is the same as the foyer.  Love it!
  3. Reface cabinets
  4. Replace counter top
  5. New pendant light
  6. Paint We painted BM Pale Smoke
  7. New faucet
  8. New drawer pulls We bought the drawer pulls from Lowes.
Dining Room
  1. New dining table Matt picked out the dining table all on his own.  He found it in the clearance section of our local furniture store.  Good job!
  2. Paint The dining room is open to the living room.  It's painted BM Central Park
  3. Panels for slider Matt found the panels in the clearance section of JC Penny.  Yay, Matt!
  4. Sideboard or buffet table
  5. New light
  6. Area rug We found the area rug at Building 19.  It was super cheap.
Living Room
  1. New TV stand We bought the tv stand at Walmart & had to put it together ourselves.  What a PITA! It's fine for now, but will be replaced as soon as I find something better.
  2. Get fireplace remote to work Gas fireplace has a remote.  After replacing the batteries, it seems to be working better.
  3. New lampshade Found a great lampshade at Homegoods.  So cute.
  4. Need side table next to couch
  5. Table lamp for side table
  6. New area rug We found this rug at Building 19 as well.  I really love it.  It has different shades of green, cream & brown in it.  It also hides stains well.

  10. Paint I can't remember the name of this paint.  It's from BM & turned out to be a periwinkle color.  It was supposed to be a beachy blue.  But I like how it turned out.
  11. Carpet The carpet was so gross when we moved in.  Dog pee stains everywhere.  We got a beautiful speckled gray for the stairs and the entire second floor.  I love it.

Christmas Decor

It was so fun decorating the house for Christmas.  The first thing I learned... I don't have enough decorations.  I'll be hitting up the sales after Christmas this year for more stuff!  Working with what we had, this is what I came up with for this year.

This is a view of our tree from upstairs.  I had to trim some branches from the back so I could shove it in the corner better.  If I left it the way it was, you would have a hard time getting in the bathroom :)Still looks great.

Here's one of my ornaments from my secret elf on Elfster.

Here's my other ornament from my secret elf.  The black part is velvet.  Very pretty.

Here's another view.

And another angle.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care.

Here's my dining table centerpiece.

I've had this little snowman box for quite a few years, but never had anything to put in it.  This year, I stuffed it with the extra branches I shaved off the tree.  I just need to add some little ornaments or something.

I made this wreath yesterday.  Wow!  Was it easy!!  Just a wire coat hanger & some shatterproof balls.  Voila! Easy peasy.  This is going on our front porch.

Here's some of my rocking horses from Christmas past.  Each year Santa brings me another.

I tried taking a picture of the tree with it's lights on, but... I forgot to turn the rest of the lights off :)

Here's the other ornament wreath I made.  It matches so well against the darker green walls in the living room.  I just need a great big bow & it'll be perfect.

By the way, this wreath wasn't as easy as the other.  The holes to thread the wire through weren't big enough to fit through the coat hanger.  Luckily, I had some wire on hand.  A little more time consuming, but still came out nice.

Dining Room- DURING

Here's the first coat of both the BM Natural Element & BM Central Park.  Central Park is lettuce color green.  It looks so good!

Here's Matt painting the Central Park wall.  He's looking a little tired.

My Dad & Matt painting the first coat on the green walls.  Aren't they doing a great job?!!

They're both being very careful not to spill on the hardwood floor.

Here's Matt painting the 2nd coat of BM Natural Element.

Here's the 2nd coat of BM Central Park.  I love it!

Here's our new dining set & area rug.

I'm so glad I can finally put that table in the corner to good use.  The top part can be removed to become a serving tray.

Dining Room- BEFORE

This picture is from the MLS listing.  This is the previous owner's decor.  Again, Not My Style.

This is what it looked like on closing day.

Here's a close up of how the seller left the chandelier.

Dining Room Inspiration

I love the brown leather chairs & the curtains here. They would look great on our slider.

What a gorgeous room... I don't think it would work in our space though.  I really like the capiz chandelier.
Look at this chandelier!  Wow!!  I love it!  I also love that mirror on the wall.  We have those seashell balls that are on the table.  They were our centerpieces at our wedding.  I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate them into our decor better.  This picture helps.

This is our new dining table.  The picture is kind of lousy.  If I can find a better one, I'll replace this.  But, in the meantime, it's a glass top table.  The center pedestal has a wine rack & a cabinet for storing different things.  Matt picked this out all by himself & I love it!
